Privacy Policy

This privacy policy informs you about the processing of personal data when using our apps and the web portal at muv0.de. It applies to:

Muv0 Smart IPTV Player (package name: com.muv0.iptv) — regardless of whether you obtain the app from the Google Play Store or the Amazon Appstore
Muv0 IPTV Smart Pro (package name: com.muv0.iptvsmartpro) — Google Play Store
IPTV Smart Player TV Online (package name: com.muv0.zap0) — Google Play Store
TV Remote Control by Muv0 (Universal TV Remote; package name com.muv0.universal_tv_remote on Google Play, bundle ID com.muv0.universaltvremote in the Apple App Store)

The apps are independent applications with separate data sets; an account for one app does not work in another. Where processing differs, this is expressly noted in the relevant section. Two differences up front: Muv0 IPTV Smart Pro requires an account (use is not possible without signing in), and the usage count described in section 3.5 does not take place there. TV Remote Control by Muv0 is not an IPTV app; the data it processes is described separately in section 3.11. Swarm is a BitTorrent client without an account; the data it processes is described separately in section 3.12.

1. Controller

The controller for data processing within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

2. Overview of the processing

Muv0 Smart IPTV Player is a client application (“media player”) for playing back IPTV content. The app stores and processes in particular your account data, the IPTV access details you enter, and technical device information in order to enable sign-in, synchronisation and streaming.

Important: Muv0 Smart IPTV Player does not provide TV, film or series content itself and does not host it. Streams are retrieved exclusively through third-party sources you configure yourself (Xtream Codes, M3U, Stalker). The data processing carried out by those providers is governed by their own privacy policies.

3. What data we process

3.1 Account and registration

Email address and password (stored only in encrypted/hashed form)
Display name or user name, if you provide one during registration
Supabase session and authentication data (e.g. access tokens)
Subscription status (e.g. free or premium) and, where applicable, expiry date
Time of registration and of the last sign-in

Registration is required in order to use account-bound features (synchronisation of sources across several devices, premium status). One account works across mobile devices, Android TV and Amazon Fire TV with the same sign-in.

Difference between the apps: in Muv0 Smart IPTV Player an account is optional — the app can also be used solely with your own IPTV access details, which are then stored on the device only. In Muv0 IPTV Smart Pro, by contrast, an account is mandatory; use is not possible without signing in.

3.2 IPTV sources

Server URL, user name and password of your IPTV source
Name and type of the source (Xtream Codes, M3U, Stalker)

This data is stored encrypted in our database (Supabase) in order to make it available in the app on all your devices.

3.3 Devices

Device name, platform (e.g. Android, Fire TV) and unique device ID for device management
Time of the last sign-in

3.4 Usage data within the app

Favourites (channels, films, series)
Continue-watching history (playback positions)
Local app settings (e.g. language, appearance, playback options)

3.5 Usage count (audience measurement)

Applies to Muv0 Smart IPTV Player. No such count takes place in Muv0 IPTV Smart Pro, where every use is tied to an account anyway. For TV Remote Control by Muv0 see section 3.11.

So that we know how many devices actually use the app, the app reports a counting point to our server at most once every 20 hours. Only the following is transmitted:

the pseudonymous device ID (the same as under 3.3, not an advertising ID)
platform (mobile device or television) and app version
whether an account is currently signed in (yes/no)
time of the first and the most recent counting point

Not transmitted are content, channel or title names, your IPTV access details or account data. The count is kept separate from your account and cannot be attributed to it. Its sole purpose is audience measurement: without it, users who use the app only with their own IPTV access details and without an account would not be statistically visible at all. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in developing the app in line with actual demand (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

3.6 Payments (in-app purchases)

Premium features can be unlocked through an in-app purchase. Payment is processed depending on where you obtained your app exclusively through the respective store:

Google Play (Play Billing), if you downloaded the app from the Google Play Store
Amazon Appstore (Amazon In-App Purchasing), if you downloaded the app from the Amazon Appstore

The respective store processes your payment data under its own responsibility. To verify the purchase we receive only a purchase token or receipt identifier and product information in order to unlock your premium subscription. We do not store complete payment data (e.g. credit card numbers).

3.7 Advertising

Advertisements may be displayed in the free version. On mobile devices this may take place through Google AdMob; device identifiers, IP address and usage information may be processed by Google in this context. Further information: Google Privacy.

3.8 Image and title information (posters, cover art, thumbnails)

Images are displayed in part on this website and in the app, such as film and series posters, cover art or thumbnails:

On the website these images serve solely to illustrate the streaming experience by way of example. They are hosted locally on our server and do not constitute access to content.
In the app, cover, poster and title information is loaded from the metadata of your own IPTV source configured by you and serves for orientation within the programme guide. It is retrieved from the servers of your respective provider.

Muv0 Smart IPTV Player does not provide film, series or TV content itself and does not host it. All trademark, title and image rights remain with their respective owners. The display is purely illustrative or for orientation. If you believe that a displayed image infringes your rights, please contact us at info@muv0.de; we will remove the content in question without delay.

3.10 Enquiries via the “your own app” form

On the home page you can submit a non-binding enquiry about an app with your own branding. In doing so we process the details you enter yourself:

Name and email address (mandatory, so that we can reply)
Company (optional)
The model you selected and your message

No account is required for this. The enquiry is stored in our database and additionally forwarded to us by email. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (steps prior to entering into a contract at your request), and otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (handling of enquiries). We use this data solely to answer your enquiry and do not pass it on for advertising purposes.

3.11 TV Remote Control by Muv0 (Universal TV Remote)

This section applies exclusively to the app TV Remote Control by Muv0 (“TV Remote”). Sections 3.1 to 3.10 concern the IPTV apps and do not apply to TV Remote.

TV Remote turns your phone into a remote control for televisions on your home network. The app has no content of its own. Control commands travel directly from your phone to the TV over your local network; they are not routed through our servers.

Local network and TVs

To find TVs, the app sends discovery messages on your local network (SSDP/UPnP and mDNS/Bonjour multicast) and evaluates the replies (device name, manufacturer, IP address, supported protocol). It may also probe the addresses of your own network for open TV control ports.
TVs you add are stored on your device only: name, IP address, protocol, optionally the MAC address for switching the TV on (Wake-on-LAN), and pairing keys issued by the TV. We do not receive this information.
On iOS the operating system asks for permission to access the local network; without it the app cannot reach your TV.

Voice search, keyboard, photos and videos

Voice search: when you tap the microphone, your speech is converted to text by the speech recognition of your operating system (Apple or Google, depending on the device); those providers process the audio under their own privacy policies. The resulting text is sent to your TV as a search query. We do not receive or store recordings or search terms.
Keyboard: text you type is sent directly to the TV.
Photos, videos and video links on the TV (DLNA): a photo or video you select is streamed from your phone directly to the TV over the local network. It is not uploaded to us. The app only accesses the items you pick.

Installation and usage statistics

So that we can see whether the app works reliably with the various TV brands and which functions are used, the app reports the following to our server (Supabase):

a random installation ID generated on the device and a pseudonymous device hash (derived from a device identifier, not an advertising ID)
platform, app version, operating system version, device model, app language and the country set on the device
events with time stamp: app opened (at most once per day), search started, device added, connection succeeded or failed together with the TV protocol used (e.g. Samsung, LG, Roku), use of casting and mirroring, display of in-app messages, advertising events (an ad was shown or rewarded), opening of the subscription page and start of a purchase
error reports of the app (error message and app version)

Not transmitted are the names or IP addresses of your TVs, what you watch, what you type or say, or the content of your photos and videos. The statistics are pseudonymous; we do not link them to your name. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a reliable app (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

Optional account

You can use TV Remote without an account. If you create one (email address and password, via Supabase Auth), it links your premium subscription to you so that it is available on all your devices. Legal basis: performance of the contract (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). You can delete the account at any time in the app; see also section 6.1.

Support and in-app messages

Support requests you send from the app are stored together with your installation ID so that we can reply within the app. In addition, the app retrieves messages from us (e.g. notes about new versions); for this purpose the app version and language are transmitted.

Payments (Premium)

Premium is an auto-renewable subscription that removes advertising. Payment is processed exclusively by the store from which you obtained the app: Google Play (Play Billing) or the Apple App Store (StoreKit). For verification, our server receives from the store only a purchase token or transaction identifier, the product identifier and the expiry date of the subscription, and stores them together with your installation ID. We receive no payment details (e.g. card numbers). The store also informs our server about renewals, cancellations and refunds so that your premium status remains correct.

Advertising

The free version shows advertising via Google AdMob. Before any ad is requested, the app asks for your consent in accordance with the GDPR (Google User Messaging Platform); on iOS additionally through Apple's tracking prompt. Without consent, ads are shown non-personalised or not at all. In this context Google may process device identifiers (advertising ID), IP address and usage information under its own responsibility: Google Privacy. You can also watch a rewarded ad in exchange for a period without advertising; only the fact that the ad was completed is transmitted to our server.

3.12 Swarm (torrent client)

This section applies exclusively to the app Swarm. Sections 3.1 to 3.11 concern the other apps and do not apply to Swarm.

Swarm is a client for the BitTorrent protocol. The app has no content of its own, no search and no tracker lists; it only transfers torrents that you add yourself as a magnet link or .torrent file. Transfers take place directly between the participating devices (peer-to-peer), not through our servers. There is no account.

Peer-to-peer transfers

As soon as you download or share a torrent, the app connects to other participants of that swarm, to the trackers named in the torrent and to the distributed hash table (DHT). In doing so your IP address, the port used, an identifier of the client software and the identifier of the torrent (info hash) are visible to those participants. This is an inherent part of the protocol and outside our control; we do not receive this data.
Downloaded files, the list of your torrents and your settings are stored on your device only, in the app's private storage. Other apps only receive a file if you explicitly hand it over via “Open”.
For transfers in the background the app shows a persistent notification with progress and pause/quit actions. No data is transmitted for this.

Not transmitted are names, info hashes or contents of your torrents, file names, the addresses of other participants, or your IP address as a stored value. The statistics are pseudonymous; we do not link them to your name. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a reliable app (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

In-app messages and remote configuration

On start the app retrieves messages from us (e.g. notes about new versions) as well as settings for advertising and the minimum supported version; for this purpose the app version and language are transmitted.

Payments (Pro)

Pro is an auto-renewable subscription that removes advertising and allows more simultaneous transfers. Payment is processed exclusively by Google Play (Play Billing). For verification, our server receives from Google only a purchase token, the product identifier and the expiry date of the subscription, and stores them together with your installation ID. We receive no payment details (e.g. card numbers). Google also informs our server about renewals, cancellations and refunds so that your Pro status remains correct.

Advertising

The free version shows advertising via Google AdMob (banners, full-screen ads and rewarded ads). Before any ad is requested, the app asks for your consent in accordance with the GDPR (Google User Messaging Platform). Without consent, ads are shown non-personalised or not at all. In this context Google may process device identifiers (advertising ID), IP address and usage information under its own responsibility: Google Privacy. You can also watch a rewarded ad in exchange for a period without advertising; only the fact that the ad was completed is transmitted to our server.

3.13 Video Downloader & HD Player

This section applies exclusively to the app Video Downloader & HD Player. Sections 3.1 to 3.12 concern the other apps and do not apply to this app.

The app contains a browser with which you open websites yourself; if it detects a video there, you can save it on your device and play it with the built-in player. You alone decide which sites you visit and what you download. Your device connects to the respective website directly, and the privacy policy of the site operator applies. Our servers are not involved in these requests. There is no account.

Data on your device

Downloaded videos, your browsing history and your settings are stored on your device only. We receive neither the addresses of the sites you visit nor the titles or contents of the saved videos.
Running downloads are shown in a notification with their progress. No data is transmitted for this.

In-app messages and remote configuration

Payments (Premium)

Premium is an auto-renewable subscription that removes advertising. Payment is processed exclusively by Google Play (Play Billing), and the purchase is verified on your device. Our server only learns that a purchase was started and completed and which term was chosen — no payment details and no order number.

Advertising

The free version shows advertising via Google AdMob (banners, full-screen ads, ads when opening the app and rewarded ads). Before any ad is requested, the app asks for your consent in accordance with the GDPR (Google User Messaging Platform). Without consent, ads are shown non-personalised or not at all. In this context Google may process device identifiers (advertising ID), IP address and usage information under its own responsibility: Google Privacy. You can also watch a rewarded ad in exchange for a period without advertising; only the fact that the ad was completed is transmitted to our server.

4. Purposes and legal bases

5. Hosting and processors

We use the following services, which may process personal data on our behalf:

Supabase – authentication, database, backend. Each app uses its own separate Supabase project; data is not merged between the apps.
Google (Google Play / Google AdMob) – payments and advertising (Play versions of the apps)
Apple (App Store / StoreKit) – payments (App Store versions of TV Remote Control by Muv0 and Muv0 Smart IPTV Player)
Amazon (Amazon Appstore / Amazon In-App Purchasing) – payments (Amazon version of Muv0 Smart IPTV Player)
Hosting provider for muv0.de and the web portal

Where required, data processing agreements pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR are concluded with processors.

6. Retention period

Personal data is deleted as soon as the purpose ceases to apply and no statutory retention obligations stand in the way. Account data remains until you delete your account. Server logs are usually deleted automatically after a short time.

TV Remote Control by Muv0: usage events are deleted after 24 months, error reports after 12 months and support messages after 24 months. The installation record is deleted 24 months after the app was last used, unless a subscription is linked to it. Data stored only on your device (your TVs, settings) disappears when you uninstall the app.

Swarm: usage events are deleted after 24 months and error reports after 12 months. The installation record is deleted 24 months after the app was last used, unless a subscription is linked to it. Data stored only on your device (torrents, downloaded files, settings) disappears when you uninstall the app. You can request earlier deletion of your installation record at any time by stating the installation ID at info@muv0.de.

Video Downloader & HD Player: usage events are deleted after 24 months and error reports after 12 months. The installation record is deleted 24 months after the app was last used. Data stored only on your device (videos, history, settings) disappears when you uninstall the app. You can request earlier deletion of your installation record at any time by stating the installation ID at info@muv0.de.

Enquiries via the “your own app” form: we retain them for as long as the enquiry is being handled and follow-up contact is to be expected, but no longer than two years after the last exchange. We delete them thereafter. You may request deletion at any time before that at info@muv0.de.

6.1 Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself at any time: in the app under “Account” or “Settings” via “Delete account”, or in the web portal at muv0.de/portal in the settings area. The following is then irreversibly removed:

Your profile including display name and email address
Your stored IPTV sources including the access details saved there
Your registered devices
Your support enquiries including messages and uploaded images
Your subscription entry and your assignment to operator messages
Your sign-in account itself

Exception for the free trial period (Muv0 Smart IPTV Player only): if the app is used on a television set, we store a device identifier for that device together with the start time of the free trial period. This entry remains even after the account is deleted. Its purpose is to prevent abuse, since the trial period could otherwise be renewed any number of times by repeatedly deleting and re-creating an account. The legal basis is our legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The entry contains no user identifier; after account deletion there is no longer any link to you as a person. In Muv0 IPTV Smart Pro this entry does not exist: there, the free trial period depends solely on the age of your account.

Note on paid subscriptions: deleting your account does not cancel an existing premium subscription, because billing runs through Google Play or the Amazon Appstore. Please cancel it there beforehand in your subscription settings.

7. Disclosure to third parties

Data is disclosed to processors (see section 5), to Google or Amazon in the case of in-app purchases or advertising, and to your IPTV providers when retrieving streams. Any other disclosure to third parties takes place only with a legal basis or your consent.

8. Transfers to third countries

When using services based outside the EU (e.g. the USA), data may be transferred to third countries. Appropriate safeguards (e.g. standard contractual clauses) are used in this context, insofar as provided by the respective provider.

9. Your rights

You have the following rights vis-à-vis us, where the statutory requirements are met:

10. Security

We use technical and organisational measures (including TLS encryption, access controls, secure password storage) to protect your data against unauthorised access.

11. Children

Our services are not directed at persons under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age.

12. Changes

We may adapt this privacy policy if our services or legal requirements change. The current version is always available at this URL.

13. Language

This is a translation of the German Datenschutzerklärung, provided for convenience. In the event of any discrepancy, the German version prevails.
